Hall of New York

Hall of New York

Beautiful New York State landscapes on view in the New York State Capitol
About the Exhibition

New York is home to some of the world's most beautiful natural and architectural wonders. Our state's abundance of beauty has drawn artists from around the world and inspired them to capture those scenes and pass them on for future generations' enjoyment. The "Hall of New York" is a sampling of those works, dedicated to the communities that are home to these wonders and the artists who painted them. Many of the artists whose works are displayed here were influential in the artistic community, others are virtually unknown outside of their home towns; however, all of them captured something essential about New York's beauty.

As you explore this exhibit, we encourage you to take the time to learn more about New York's diverse geography, the women and men whose talent preserved scenes of it and the many museums and institutions whose mission is to make these works available to the public. The lenders that are participating in this project play an instrumental role in preserving and promoting our state's cultural heritage. We hope you will take the time to visit them. Enjoy your visit to the "Hall of New York" and the rest of the State Capitol.
